Pinoy coffee mug image

This is a great coffee mug and a funny one too because it shows the evolution of man and at the end Lapu Lapu stops and looks at his back as if saying "Why are you following me???" The evolution ends with Lapu Lapu! Nice!

Pinoy Coffee Video Thursday #12: Piolo and Angel for San Mig Coffee

Here in this commercial we see two of the most popular stars in the Philippines today and they're Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin. They're endorsing a coffee product, San Mig Coffee, by one of biggest companies in the Philippines which is San Miguel Corporation. As everyone knows they're the makers of world known San Miguel Beer and local brand Magnolia.

San Mig Coffee is relatively new and they're trying to penetrate the coffee market here in the Philippines. Getting two of the most popular endorsers is a good strategy but would that be enough? Nescafe seems to have been around for at least three decades and has been strong in holding on to the number 1 spot. It would take lots of great marketing for San Mig Coffee to reach number 1 but if they're happy with just a small chunk of the market then I think they've done just fine.

I must admit that I haven't tasted San Mig coffee even if they've been in the market for over a year now. Why? Because I feel weird drinking coffee that's named similar to its beer, San Miguel. Anyone of you who has tasted this coffee let us know. Thanks!

Barako Coffee Mug Image

This is the Barako Mug by the emanila store in cafepress.com. They do have a lot of creative items in their store and they have something going there by using the word barako. It would be nicer if the mug fit the word barako more. I mean barako, as we know, is Coffee Liberica in the Philippines and it is known for its strong taste, powerful body and pungent odor. It is also often related to male strength and "machismo" that's why it would have been nice if the mug didn't look this smooth. Maybe something with a more rough texture will do. Nevertheless, it's still a creative idea to put barako in the mug and help promote it.

Nescafe sure knows how to get the bands/singers who are really popular. It's now wonder they're one of the most popular coffee brands here in the Philippines. Enjoy! One good day coming up!

Pinoy Coffee Video Thursday #10: Coffee in the Philippines

This is a very informative video by GMA7 where they show coffee in three parts: a woman who drinks 10 cups a day (that is what she claims), a cupping expert who explains how there are different types of coffee beans here in the Philippines and last is interview with the owner of Figaro (Pacita Juan) as she explains the coffee industry here in the Philippines and how every Filipino can help support it.

They formed Kape Isla where they showcase different coffee products/brands from around the Philippines. You may purchase your local beans in their Serendra branch to show your support to our coffee industry.

Filipinos are really coffee drinkers and according to the video even the production of coffee beans here can't supply the demand within the country. We will have to plant more and plant more if we are hoping to supply our demand and those of other countries.
